With the release of the Realme 12 series, Realme is back with another chic phone. The newest model in the collection, the Realme 12+, draws inspiration from the Realme 12 Pro pair. You receive a rear panel made of vegan leather that resembles the more costly Realme 12 Pro range, together with a well-known camera module that resembles a high-end watch. However, this is a mid-range smartphone with a large screen and a Sony LYT-600 back camera that leads its sector, and it once again features a partnership with Claudio Miranda.
Cost of the Realme 12+ in India
To begin with, there are two price varieties of the Realme 12+ available in India. For Rs. 20,999, you get the base model, which has 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There is also a version that has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. This variant is priced at Rs. 21,999.
Review of Realme 12+: Design
The circular camera module, which is reminiscent of a watch, the stripe, and the rear all have a similar vegan leather finish. The new Realme 12+, however, has a flat, shiny frame with rounded corners, in contrast to the Realme 12 Pro series. Because the frame is constructed of plastic, you’ll need to take extra care with it because it is prone to scratches. Although the phone is comfortable to hold, over time, the sharp edges of the frame may dig into your hand. The camera module resembles a conventional watch dial thanks to its sunburst texture, which creates a lovely pattern when light hits it.

The Realme 12+ features a broad chin, thin side bezels, and a hole punch cutout for the selfie camera in the top center. The bezels at the top and bottom are not identical. According to Realme, “0.68 secondary tempered high-strength glass” guards the display. The phone’s power and volume keys are located on the right side, while the SIM/microSD tray slot, loudspeaker, USB Type-C connector, and microphone are located on the bottom.
The phone has two microphones, a second loudspeaker, and a 3.5mm headphone socket on top. The phone is 7.87 mm thick and weighs 190 grams. Additionally, it is rated IP54 for water and dust protection.
Review of the Realme 12+: Features and Software
The MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC powers the midrange Realme 12+ smartphone. The Mali-G68 GPU is combined with this 6nm chipset. You get 256GB of storage and up to 8GB of RAM. While there is a virtual 8GB RAM extension, a microSD card can expand RAM up to 2 TB. You can communicate using 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo, and QZSS. There is a 3.5mm headphone connector and a USB Type-C connection for connectivity.
For security, the phone’s in-display fingerprint scanner is tucked away quite low on the screen. During my time using the phone, it functioned nicely and was of the standard optical variety.
The phone from Realme comes with a 5,000mAh battery that can be charged at 67W quickly. Fortunately, the package comes with a charger.
The Realme 12+ runs Realme UI 5.0, which is based on Android 14. Included are two years of OS upgrades and three years of security patches. Additionally, there is a ton of bloatware to deal with, as is always the case with low-cost and mid-range phones from companies like Realme.
Review of Realme 12+: Camera
The industry-first Sony LYT-600 50-megapixel rear camera with an f/1.88 aperture and OIS is one of the Realme 12+’s primary selling points. In addition, the phone has a 2-megapixel depth sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 112-degree field of view. There’s a 16-megapixel camera up front for taking selfies. The primary modes are all arranged in front of you, making the camera interface simple to operate.
